Join Sefton Council as a Senior Social Worker – Make a Real Difference

Sefton Council is looking for a number of dedicated Senior Social Workers to join our dynamic Team Around the Baby (TAB) which was established in June 2024.

TAB is Sefton’s pre- and post-birth assessment and intervention service, working with expectant parents who have lost previous children to care, or where there is a high risk of state intervention at birth. The aim of the team is to keep families together where it is safe to do so, and work intensively in the pre-birth period to achieve permanence for babies from birth.

TAB is an innovative service which has sparked interest from across the region for its creative, tenacious and transformative approach to supporting families, some of whom are facing the most difficult of circumstances.

Applicants must have child protection experience and be highly skilled communicators who are curious and compassionate. This is a uniquely rewarding role and an opportunity to change the course of people’s lives.

What we’re looking for:

  • A qualified social worker with extensive experience in statutory children’s services
  • SWE registration
  • A confident, skilled communicator with a strong grasp of legislation, assessment frameworks, and child-centred practice
