Children’s Commissioning Officer (x2) – Sefton Council

Sefton Council is recruiting two new Children’s Commissioning Officers to join our ambitious and forward-thinking team. If you’re passionate about improving outcomes for children and families—and either come with solid experience or are keen to build your expertise—we want to hear from you!

This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your career in a supportive and collaborative environment. As a Commissioning Officer, you’ll lead the full commissioning cycle—designing, delivering, and developing services that truly make a difference. From contract management and quality oversight to stakeholder engagement and strategic planning, you’ll help shape high-quality services that meet the diverse needs of our children and young people.

Our team commissions a wide range of support services, including provision for cared-for children and those with special educational needs. You’ll work across different service areas but will have the opportunity to develop your own areas of specialism.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support our Homefinding team to commission timely, local, high-quality care
  • Drive tender processes in partnership with our Procurement Team
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with partners and providers
  • Help the local authority deliver value for money
  • Produce high-quality reports that influence strategy and decision-making

You’ll be joining a skilled and supportive commissioning team committed to innovation, continuous improvement, and positive outcomes for Sefton’s children, young people, and families.
