This is a pivotal role at the heart of the Council’s funding for Children and Young People’s additional support via their education setting. You will be the first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders (our wider Finance Team, including Schools Finance Officers that support our Maintained Schools and additionally, Academies who are funded by Sefton’s High Needs Budget), managing a fast-paced workload with professionalism, discretion and confidence.

You will also provide ad-hoc support to the wider Finance Leadership team at times. This role requires someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, can anticipate needs and an organised approach to managing different priorities.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Comprehensive management of High Needs Mailbox, responding to queries from Sefton Schools and Academies plus those from independent day and residential schools, including scheduling and co-ordinating payments and/or journals to same.
  • The ability to prioritise tasks effectively and efficiently
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Handling sensitive information with the highest level of confidentiality and discretion
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office package including Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and particularly Excel.

This role will suit someone who is passionate about delivering excellent outcomes, is committed to maintaining high standards, and is confident working both independently and collaboratively to support a skilled and safe workforce.
